Cameroon

French Cameroon (now Cameroon).

Cameroon is a country in Central Africa, precisely at the bend on the Gulf of Guinea between Nigeria to the northwest and Equatorial Guinea, Gabon and the Republic of the Congo on the south. It is bordered on the east by Chad and the Central African Republic.
The population of over 17 million is 20% Muslims. There are more than 200 ethnic groups in the Cameroon, but the primary ethnic groups are the Cameroon Highlanders 31%, Equatorial Bantu 19%, Kirdi 11%, Fulani 10%, Northwestern Bantu 8% and the Eastern Nigritic 7%. The Muslim Fulani people settled in the Cameroon area in the 18th Century following the earlier arriving Bantu speaking tribes. These Bantu replaced the pygmy Bake people who are thought to be the first inhabitants of the region.
